Clean Eating?

Here is my controversial take…”Clean Eating” isn’t real.

This term was originally created to refer to eating only fresh, whole food and generally eating as close to nature as possible.✨ And surprise✨ it was coined to sell a new trending diet. (Hello fatphobia and capitalism…)

Labeling some foods as clean and others (often more accessible foods) as dirty only creates an unnecessary food hierarchy that at the end of the day, gets in the way of happiness, progress and creates an environment of shame.

Now I want to be super clear here, including these types of foods into your daily meals can be a great thing! We love adding flavorful and nutrient dense foods into our diets. The key word here being *adding*

But eating ONLY fresh, “clean” food is not cost effective, realistic or satisfying for most people. No foods are morally better than others and ALL foods have a place in a well rounded diet.

Remember that while yes, food is fuel, it’s also so much more!

So the next time you see a super cut fitness influencer ranting about the evils of oatmeal, please try to remember that they’re spouting a bunch of malarky.

If you have concerns or questions, seek out licensed professionals that don’t play into fear tactics.

I know there is a lot of conflicting information out there, but you can do this! Take your time to find out what works for you!
